Provide Computers for New Faculty/Staff includes the following:

  • Provide, install and test computer equipment and standard MS Office package/specialized software for new faculty/staff prior to their first day of employment.
  • Supply, install, and configure printing and scanning devices

How to Submit a Request:

Call or email ITS Help Desk.

Turnaround Time:

Installation of a new desktop computer requires an on-site visit and some research into the specific needs of the associated user.  Of necessity this requires scheduling a site visit at a time convenient to the user.

During regular business hours, ITS Help Desk addresses support requests on an immediate basis.  If an on-site visit is required, that response is dependent on user availability, urgency of the issue, and call volume.  ITS seeks to resolve 90% of all issues within 2 business days.

During extended support hours (evenings and weekends), ITS provides phone support on an immediate basis, but non-emergency on-site activities may be deferred to the next business day.

Required User Input:

  • User's contact information and department
  • Type of equipment
  • Level of urgency and impact
  • Information about software or setting preferences, or specific folder to be migrated during a computer replacement.

Prerequisites or Restrictions:

ITS prefers that end-users be present during visits to their work-space, especially during the replacement of a computer, to ensure that all needed software and data is transferred to the new computer before the old device is decommissioned or re-allocated.

ITS supports equipment and software owned by the college or acquired under college grants. ITS will often examine personal equipment, especially if used for college business, on a case by case basis, but cannot take responsibility for and consequential issues that develop.  A signed waiver form may be required from the equipment owner before any work is initiated.

ITS support staff are trained and equipped to support the equipment and software that are current BC standards.
